Been a long time since I Rock n Rolled !
Well apologies for the lack of posts over the last while but I've been busy busy.
Racked a couple of 1276 modules that was a little harder than I first thought but its been a great learning experience.
It involved populating the input stage of the BA183 cards and re-wiring the input transformer amongst other things.
They sound loooovely tho !!
Also racked a Telefunken V72 which is tasty tasty. Used it yesterday in a record and it was just the thing for tracking the guitar.
Most of the last while, I've been recording so glad to say the preamps I've built over the last year have been getting lots of use.
Some of the tracks may even be coming to a TV show near you !!
More classical works to add to my collection too !!
I've got some pics of the stuff I've been doing (Modules Mods) and I'll post them here sometime soon.
The desk is still sitting cold in my corridor :( But I am working on getting the funds together.
Still haven't decided if I'm going to fill my baby or whether I'd be better off with a bunch of 1073s in two flightcases seem as I'm mixing most things in Pro tools these days anyway! Not big on Plug-Ins but the Sony Oxford series ROCKS
Hmmm, wonder if I could build a Neve console/summing mixer into a couple of flightcases ??!! 24 1073s, couple of 1271s and 1276s, a patch bay and a bunch of amphenol connectors and hey !! Jees, that could be awesome !
Quick, someone hand me a drawing board!

UA to emulate Neve 1073 with new Plug-In!
Universal Audio, a manufacturer of high-quality vintage audio hardware and DSP software plug-ins for digital audio workstations, today announced a trademark licensing agreement with AMS Neve Limited. Under the terms of this agreement, Universal Audio will develop plug-in software emulations of Neve signal processors for their UAD-1 DSP Card & Powered Plug-Ins(tm) system. The first product to be launched under the new agreement will be the Neve 1073 Equalizer.
"Neve is a brand synonymous with landmark recording equipment innovations and some of the best sounding consoles and audio hardware designs of the past 40 years." said Matt Ward, President of Universal Audio. "To say we are excited about having the opportunity to bring these time-honored classics and the Neve brand to the DAW world and our UAD-1 user base, would be an understatement. It is truly an honor to have a company as esteemed as Neve entrust us to create software emulations of their classic products."
"The Neve sound is the most sought after in the world," said Neve President Tom Misner "Its availability as plug-ins will compliment the range of Classic and New Classic Neve Outboard Units". Simon Daniels, Product Marketing Manager at Neve added, "Universal Audio has a demonstrated ability to create extremely accurate emulations of classic signal processors. We are confident that Universal Audio will develop the Neve plug-ins with the skill necessary to maintain and strengthen Neve's outstanding reputation."
About the UAD-1 DSP Card
At the heart of every UAD-1 DSP Card & Powered Plug-Ins package is the revolutionary UAD-1 DSP card. Because of its high resolution, floating-point processing, ultra high-speed memory and hardware dithering, the UAD-1 delivers outstanding high-headroom sound quality at sample rates from 32 to 192khz. Unlike other DSP cards, the UAD-1 uses a single, unpartitioned vector processor, allowing for larger and more sophisticated plug-in algorithms offering a new level of power and complexity not found with host-based plug-ins. By greatly reducing the burden on the computer's CPU, the host application can now deliver more tracks, automation and native effects.
